Maria left her career as a SRN/RGN nurse in Newcastle Upon Tyne to study drama at The Poor School in London. Ironically after graduating her tv roles took her straight back to Newcastle to appear in “Byker Grove”, “Harry” with Michael Elphick and “Finney” directed by David Hayman. A run of tv nursing roles followed including “The Bill” and nurse Kelly Wallis in the series “Call Red”. Eventually, experiencing a need to step aside from a feeling of repetitive professional de ja vous, Maria found herself drawn to theatre, especially new writing dealing with challenging topics that she felt passionate about. This brought her out of the commercial and into the eclectic. Some of her theatre credits include:
